EYESHIELD 21

Eyeshield 21 (アイシールド21 Aishīrudo nijūichi?) is a manga about American football written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Yusuke Murata. It has been adapted into an anime movie in 2004 (shown at Jump Festa), an anime television series in 2005, several video games and a trading card game from Konami.

The manga is serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. The twenty five volumes have collectively sold over 16 million copies in Japan, and the number of children playing American football has almost doubled in the four years since it began.[1] The manga is published in English by Viz Media.[2]

The anime version, produced by NAS and animated by Artland, premiered across Japan on TV Tokyo from April 6, 2005, and ended March 19, 2008 with episode 145. The anime is sponsored by NFL Japan. The English dub aired on the free on-demand Toonami Jetstream as a joint effort with NFL Rush on December 17, 2007,[3] however no more episodes will be dubbed, as the deal with NFL Rush fell through in 2008.[citation needed] It is also aired in Taiwan and Indonesia.

NARUTO

DEATHNOTE

NARUTO

Naruto (NARUTO -ナルト-? romanized as NARUTO in Japan) is an ongoing Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. The plot tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, an adolescent ninja who constantly searches for recognition and aspires to become a Hokage, the ninja in his village that is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all. The series is based on a one-shot comic by Kishimoto that was published in the August 1997 issue of Akamaru Jump.

The manga was first published by Shueisha in 1999 in the 43rd issue of Japan's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine Currently, the manga is still being serialized with forty-four tankōbon volumes having been released. The manga would be later adapted into an anime produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan on the terrestrial TV Tokyo network and the anime satellite television network Animax on October 3, 2002. The first series lasted nine seasons, while Naruto: Shippuden, a sequel of the series, aired its first episode on February 15, 2007 and is still airing. Apart from anime series, Studio Pierrot has developed five movies for the series and several original video animations (OVAs). Other types of merchandise include light novels, video games and trading cards developed by several companies.

Viz Media has licensed the manga and anime for North American production. Viz has been publishing the series in their Shonen Jump magazine, and has also been releasing the volumes. The series aired in the United States and Canada in 2005, and later in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2006 and 2007 respectively. The films, as well as most OVAs from the series, have also been released by Viz, with the first film premiering on cinemas. Naruto: Shippuden has also been announced to premier in 2009 in the United States.

Serialized in Viz's Shonen Jump magazine, Naruto has become one of the company's best-selling manga series. As of volume 36, the manga has sold over 71 million copies in Japan. The English adaptation of the series have also appeared in the USA Today Booklist several times and volume 11 won the Quil Award in 2006. Reviewers from the series have praised the balance between fighting and comedy scenes, as well as the characters' personalities. However, some of them have noted the series to have stereotypical concepts, which appear in several shōnen series.

NARUTO

SAMURAI X

SAMURAI X

The story of Samurai X really begins in the late 1860s during the last days of the Tokugawa era. Here, the main character of the series, Kenshin Himura, makes his mark. As a fourteen year old with a belief that he could use his sword to protect the peasants and the weak who were suffering during the Tokugawa era and against his master's wishes, Kenshin joins the rebels who seek to overthrow the Tokugawa government.

Here, Kenshin becomes an assassin for the rebels. Using his Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu technique, he ends up killing countless people and as a result, he develops the legendary name "Hitokiri Battousai" or "Battousai: The Slasher". Mysteriously, at the end of the Tokugawa era, Kenshin Himura disappears and begins wondering all over Japan for ten years with the vow in mind never to kill anyone again.

Following his wandering for ten years, Kenshin appears in Tokyo during the Meiji Era(this is where the anime series begins). Here, he meets the other characters of the series Kaoru Kamiya, Yahiko Myoujin, Sanosuke Sagara and Megumi. Together, this group of characters will share many adventures, trials, tribulations and happiness. Whatever happens, they come to form an unbreakable bond which proves their friendship and affection for one another.

One more highlight of this entire series is the romantic relationship between Kenshin and Kaoru. At some point, both develop romantic feelings for one another but they have a hard time expressing this feeling. Despite this, it slowly blossoms and the true extent of it is revealed in the DVD movie "Samurai X: Reflections.

In the end, Samurai X is not only an anime of sword fighting and martial arts, but it is also a series of emotional conflict, values and most of all intrigue.

DEATHNOTE

DEATHNOTE

The human whose name is written in this note shall die

Death Note (デスノート, Desu Nōto?) is a Japanese manga series created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata. The series centers on Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook, the titular "Death Note", dropped on Earth by a shinigami (death god) named Ryuk. The Death Note grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose face they have seen, by writing the victim's name in the notebook. The story follows Light's attempt to create and rule a world cleansed of evil using the notebook, and the complex conflict between him and his opponents.

Death Note was first serialized in 108 chapters by Shueisha in the Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from December 2003 to May 2006. The series was also published in tankōbon (paperback) format in Japan starting in May 2004 and ending in October 2006, and since then has been translated internationally. The series was adapted into live-action films released in Japan on June 17, 2006, on November 3, 2006, and on February 2, 2008. The anime series aired in Japan from October 3, 2006, to June 26, 2007. A novel based on the series, written by Nisio Isin, was released in Japan on August 1, 2006.

When it is decided that Mello should work with Near to capture Kira, he refuses citing an inability to work with somebody he is considered "second" to. He leaves the orphanage soon after, stating "I'll find my own way," and eventually seeks help from the Mafia. Mello has sometimes been known to use less conventional methods to achieve his goals, including kidnapping the Director of the Japanese Police. He also relied on information leaked from an informant (Ill Ratt) from the SPK in order to write most of the member's names in Sidoh's Death Note. Teru Mikami (魅上 照, Mikami Teru), in the original manga and anime versions, is chosen as the new Kira by Light Yagami. When Light feels it is dangerous for Misa Amane to keep the Death Note any longer, he instructs her to pass the ownership of the Note to Mikami. Little is known about Mikami at first, except that he appears to be a supporter of Kira, and that he is a prosecutor. He also performs an eye trade with Ryuk, earning him the Shinigami Eyes. When Mikami's decisions reveal that he can follow the thoughts and ideals of the first Kira, as L could, Light wonders if Mikami will become much-needed help, or a new threat.

Misa Amane (弥 海砂, Amane Misa?) is a fictional character in the Death Note anime, manga, and film series. Misa is a famous model, singer and actress and is infatuated with Light Yagami. She usually refers to herself in the third person by calling herself "Misa-Misa" to be cute and tends to be hyperactive. Though Misa wears jewelry with a crucifix theme in the manga, she wears fleur de lis jewelry in the anime adaptation (however, the cross is retained on the collector's figure included with Volume 5 of the DVD series). Despite her hyperactivity; she rarely, if ever, allows her personal feelings about anyone to interfere with Light's plans, showing her unflinching loyalty to him.

Ryuk (Shinigami):
Ryuk is the main Shinigami of the Death Note series. Ryuk was bored with the activities (or lack thereof) of the Shinigami Realm, so he decides to obtain a second Death Note and drop it in the human world for someone to find, hoping to amuse himself from the boredom. He deliberately writes the instructions inside the front cover (in English, which he assumed to be the most popular language in the human realm) so people would understand it's purpose. The Death Note is discovered by Light, and Ryuk follows him around for much of the series to see how Light uses it. Ryuk has a fairly humanoid appearance. His skin is a light gray, almost blue-ish color, his limbs are abnormally long and he has bulging yellow eyes with black (red in the anime) irises. He is voiced by Shidō Nakamura in the Japanese anime and live-action adaptations, while Brian Drummond voices him in the English dub.

Rem (Shinigami):
Rem (レム, Remu) is the Shinigami who gives Misa her Death Note. Like Ryuk, Rem possesses two Death Notes; however, Rem did not get hers through trickery. The Shinigami Gelus, who had fallen in love with Misa, sacrificed himself to kill her destined murderer. In doing so he was reduced to dust, leaving only his Death Note. Touched by this act, Rem delivered his Death Note to Misa, since it was her life he saved. Her appearance is quite skeletal, with long, spinal cord-like arms and bone-like skin. In the manga and anime, Rem tells Misa that she is actually a female Shinigami. In the second live-action film, this is not mentioned, leaving it ambiguous. She is also given a more masculine voice. Rem is voiced by Kimiko Saitō in the Japanese anime and Colleen Wheeler in the English dub. In the film, she is voiced by Shinnosuke Ikehata in Japanese, with Michael Dobson (who also voiced Gelus in the anime) replacing Wheeler in the English version.
